Der Grund liegt in der Krafteinleitung: Ein Pfosten wirkt punktuell und meist mittig unterhalb der Stoßfängerebene, also genau dort, wo weder Crashbox noch Querträger etwas abfangen. Betroffen sind Stoßfängerträger und Unterfahrschutz, bei tiefer liegenden Fahrzeugen die Ölwanne, der Kühlerschutz und die vordere Verkleidung; beim Zurücksetzen trifft es Heckträger und Abgasanlage. Weil die Geschwindigkeit so niedrig ist, löst keinerlei Sicherheitstechnik aus und im Innenraum bleibt alles ruhig – deshalb wird ein Flüssigkeitsverlust oft erst später auf dem Stellplatz bemerkt. Zur Besichtigung gehört bei diesem Schadentyp zwingend der Blick von unten auf der Hebebühne.
